At Propion, we research and develop nutritional formulas that work through the gut microbiome to slow the processes that drive biological aging. From sleep to immunity, metabolism to brain health, we build products that target the underlying systems — not just the symptoms.

Our Story

Our Story

Propion Inc. was founded by a UC Berkeley student and a Canadian professor of aging research. Their vision – to reduce the burden of aging on our quality of life.

The professor, Dr. Dan Winer, has researched the immune system for two decades at Stanford, University of Toronto, and the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, helping advance what we know about the role of the immune system in conditions like diabetes, dementia, and aging broadly. The CEO of the company, Nicholas Tubach, was Winer's intern when they decided to pursue a major new frontier in aging science – gut metabolites – and figure out a nutritional formula they could give to their family and friends that would boost levels of gut metabolites with anti-aging functions.

OUR vision

Propion was founded to tackle one of the most overlooked drivers of aging: dysregulated tryptophan metabolism. Our mission is to create products that address aging at its root, guided by real science not trends.

The science of gut metabolites is still early. But what's already there is compelling enough that we built a company around it. Propion exists to close the gap between what researchers know about how we age and what people actually have access to.
